When data meets people

During my five years as a manager, I used Peakon as a way to continuously gather feedback from my team. I value that input deeply — it’s been one of my main guides for understanding how the team is feeling and where support is truly needed. While data never tells the whole story, it helps surface patterns and start the right conversations.

Today, my Peakon score sits at 8.4, but what really matters is everything behind that number. The trust, the openness, and the day-to-day relationships built over time are far more meaningful than any metric.

I feel incredibly lucky to have shared this journey with a team I helped build from scratch. I started as a solo UX designer in Barcelona and grew the team to 10 designers under my leadership.

My proudest achievement at Ocado isn’t a score or a dashboard — it’s having hired, supported, and learned from some of the most talented and genuinely awesome UX designers I’ve ever worked with.

Growing People, Delivering Together

As a manager, I saw my team grow to 10 designers, and supporting their growth became a big part of my role. To help them become the best versions of themselves, I helped define our design process — a shared way of working that still guides the team today. Beyond the framework itself, I created the Figma templates and tools that supported designers throughout that journey.

I was also part of the management group responsible for shaping our career path, defining the skills and behaviours individual contributors need to progress and grow within the organisation.

Finally, I was actively involved in Ocado’s UX Graduate Scheme. This included taking part in the interview process to select new graduates and mentoring them during their rotations within my team, supporting their development from day one.

My Leadership Mantra

We’ll have a weekly 1:1 that I truly prioritize. I’m always available when you need support, your growth and well-being matter to me.

I'll enable what I like to call "Ninja Meetings". Regardless of my Agenda you can book 15 minutes with me no permission ask

I care about outcomes, not micromanagement. Once goals are clear, how you get there is up to you, with guidance and context whenever needed.

You don’t need my approval to move forward. I trust your judgment, and I’ll support with feedback and coaching whenever it adds value.

Transparency matters to me. Feedback is ongoing, timely, and never saved for a performance review.

Creativity and exploration are always welcome here. Dream big, try things. I worry far more about stagnation than risk.

Credit always goes where it’s due. I celebrate the team’s wins and take responsibility when things go wrong. I’ve got your back.

I want to grow UX designers who go beyond my abilities. Your growth into your best selves is the ultimate goal.

Beyond Day-to-Day Management

Even when it feels a bit scary, I push myself to step outside my comfort zone — whether that’s through talks, videos, or interviews. That mindset is why, during my 10 years at Ocado, I actively took part in all of these, sponsored workshops, and led the town halls for the Barcelona office.

Putting myself out there helped me grow, but it also helped build stronger connections across the team and the wider organisation.
