4. Kidney Care

An app developed to help patients to go through their therapy and to connect them with their doctors.

This whole project started as a close collaboration between HealthApp (where I worked at the time) and one of the biggest hospitals in Sabadell. The app Kidney Care, which (sadly) is no longer active, was a native app solution for patients with chronic diseases related to the kidney.

The methodology that we followed to start this project was, first of all, to conduct direct interviews with all the patients. This was due to the fact that it can be hard to imagine what can be useful for them if you don't understand their needs. These interviews were followed by Assumptions Mapping.

Our team created several iterations of the app as a result of the complications we encountered in trying to find the right balance between and app that is both useful for patients and also an effective tracking solution for therapists.

During this project we had to face a lot of obstacles and unexpected issues like, such as the problem of patients not receiving any Wi-Fi signal inside of the dialysis rooms or the need to adapt our app for non-tech savvy users or people who have gone blind due to the therapy.

Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to convey how this entire project changed the way I think: it was a true life-changing experience. I'd also like to thank again all the strong and incredible people that I met during this project, because I learned a lot from all of them.
